Tea Time

I think my coworkers are rubbing off on me. I seem to be becoming British by osmosis or something… I drink tea instead of coffee lately! *giggle*

No but really, I love tea. There’s a tea for every occasion. Having a hard time waking up in the morning? Earl Grey or other black teas to the rescue (and, on a hot day, they make fantastic iced tea). Craving something sweet before bed but don’t want to actually eat something? Herbal teas are perfect for this, as are most white teas if you’re not as mega-caffeine sensitive as I am (white tea has a little caffeine in it, but herbal does not).

Not a fan of black tea or flowery? Between oolong (good for the metabolism), green (boosts your immune system, soothes the tummy, and helps lower cholesterol), red/rooibos (also caffeine-free, high in antioxidants, aids digestion) and maté (has a stimulant similar to caffeine without the jitters), you’re sure to find something you like.

I think I’ve graduated from tea bags. Until my wallet yells at me, in which case I might have a regression. Seriously though, loose leaf tea is where it’s at! I have my little tea kettle (I love the whistling sound it makes!), and a nifty thing to brew my tea in, and I think I have an actual teapot around here somewhere, but I’m moving, so Lord knows where it actually is right now.

I remember when I was a kid, my nanny grew all kinds of herbs in her yard, and when I was sick, she’d go pick various leaves and make me tea from them.. she had it down to a science! I miss her mint tea. That’s what started it for me.

Lately I’ve been drinking a blend that I just got from Teavana. It’s a blend of White Ayurvedic Chai (flavors include cinnamon, cloves, black and red pepper, coconut and lemongrass) and Samurai Chai Maté. It is delicious! I brew it with a little bit of german rock cane sugar, to lightly sweeten it. It is mmm-mm good! I’ve replaced my daily cup of coffee with it. The tea tastes better, doesn’t give me a headache later in the day, and smells nicer.

I went a little overboard and bought so much of that blend that I ran out of money for different teas, oops! But, my boyfriend brought up a good point – I can probably find delicious, high quality teas without paying “mall prices” like I do at Teavana.. mall retail space is expensive and the price of my tea reflects that. So I am turning to my blogosphere!

Tell me, dear readers, where is a good place for awesome loose leaf teas? What are your favorite tea flavors? If you don’t drink tea… I’m curious, why not?

Taxes and Alchoholic Orange Juliuses

Happy Tax Day people. Mwahaha. I hope you all got your stuff done I finally sent in my Oregon taxes yesterday (they wanted money from me so I put it off for a while haha). Anyway yeah taxes suck.

So last night we had alcoholic Orange Juliuses. Have you ever bought a bottle of rum, and then gone to the house that you’re all hanging out at, only to realize that nobody remembered to bring the Coke? Yeah, that was totally us last night. So the only thing in the fridge at my friends house were a couple cans of this sparkling orange flavored… stuff? Damned if I know what it was but it was a pretty good mixer. Our drinks were rum filled melted orange juliuses. Good times! :D

Hrm. What else to blog about… well, I’m moving this weekend. Puppy is a spaz. Work is fun, but people are stupid. That’s about it.

Oh, I also made like, an invite only blog on Blogger for posting about things that are fun but that I don’t need the whole wide internet to know about. If you want access (and think that it’s possible that I’d let you read it lol [if I talk to you I’ll probably let you in]) leave a comment here saying that you want access and I’ll hook you up with an invite email *nods* Gmail acct if possible, I think it works better that way. I’m way too lazy to go track down all your email addresses. I plan on posting about last weekends shenanigans (those of you that follow my Twitter might be curious) some time soon! Yay!

That is all. I will try not to be so sparse and update more often but I make no promises.

This Is Titleless, Oh My!

At some point, I am quite sure I will eventually catch up on my sleep.  Just not anytime soon!

Busy busy weekend. Friday night The Sonia and I went on a misadventure and it was fun. First off, I couldn’t drive my truck normally for a few miles ‘cause the mechanic readjusted my clutch (apparently it was riding high, so I had to get used to it all over again because it was engaging in a different place).. so that was fun. THEN OMG WE GOT STUCK ON A BIG HILL LOOKING FOR PARKING o_O It was scurry. I was going up the hill,  but not fast enough so suddenly I was not moving. GAH. So Sonia starts hyperventilating and I’m like “GAAAAH OMG WHAT DO I DOOOOO?!?!?!?!” so I remembered that somebody said “lot’s of gas” so I gave it lots of gas and my tire squealed but I didn’t roll backwards :D I hope to never stop on a hill again haha.

So we finally found parking but the sign said we had to be out by 11. So we sprinted to the bar, and Carlton from Fresh Prince was there haha. Anyway me and Sonia grabbed a drink, drank it fast, talked about random things like we love to do and sprinted back to the truck at 10:56. YAY! So then we went to Hilary’s house and hung out there for a few hours and it was fun.

Then Saturday morning I took Vinz to Puppy Graduation and he was all sorts of excited for some reason. I mean, he’s always hyper… but this was extreme even by his standards. Weirdo. Anyway, after that I went to lunch with Jeff while he has his car washed. Then it started raining. Poor Jeff.

So then I was stuck in traffic on the 101 because I am an idiot and didn’t know that even though I was going south, I needed the 101 north to get to the 405. So eventually when I wound up in downtown LA and still hadn’t hit the freeway I figured out I went the wrong way. But at that point it was easier to take the other freeway and just chalk it up to going the long way to Culver City. I’m a special brand of stupid Once I hit the 110 I knew exactly where I was going, because that’s how I used to get to Santa Monica from Glendale. La la la.

Me and Jeremy played Wii for a while and I made a total dork of myself playing golf “Katie! We’re playing golf, not baseball!” Well whatever, I made it in the hole eventually  Actually, I played Wii for a long time. I started playing Zelda and like, an hour later I was like “…. oh man I’ve been playing this longer than I thought”. It was horridly fun and now I kind of want one. I made a Mii and it’s totally awesome.

Then we went to a party in a shady part of town and left after not too long because one of Jeremy’s friends was afraid he was going to die. That was the end of that *shrug* More Wii was played and it was funny watching people play bowling.

Sunday I went to go see my aunt from my dad’s side of the family. I hadn’t seen anybody in years… it was nice. I get my “no sense of direction whatsoever” from my dad’s side, along with the phrase “holy hell that’s obnoxious… I LOVE IT!” haha

Then (omg could this weekend possibly have been any more packed with things to do!?) I went to pick up Jeff, and we played video games, then went and had a very yummy sushi dinner (I love California rolls) and did laundry and watched half a movie before I was so exhausted I don’t even remember dragging my butt to bed.

And now I am at work, and my coworker is back from London and he brought me a totally rad fishie purse and an England Beanie and a key chain. I’ve been here an hour and a half and have yet to start actually working.
