Finch and Xoie

So I went to see Finch on Friday, and it was awesome! We got there pretty early, and hung out at the Hawthorne Theater bar (I love that place) and got to talk to the guys in the band for a while before they left for sound check. Then we just hung out drinking haha. We hung out in the bar for most of the opening bands cause well, they were not that exciting. But Finch was rad! They did my favorite songs from What It Is To Burn and a few from the other album. I wasn’t really into the other album so I didn’t know those ones. Oh, and they did a new one too, it wasn’t bad. But yes, it was a ton of fun. I can’t really talk still though haha.

In other news I took puppy to vet on Saturday. She weighs just under 5 pounds now and behaved like an angel. She was a little weary of the metal table but she didn’t cry at all, not even when she got her shot. She even behaved while they cut her nails! What a little trooper. They found giardia in her poop though, so I have to go pick up some medicine for her tomorrow. She’s not showing any symptoms right now but obviously I’d rather get rid of it than let it sit dormant. I don’t think she got it from water.. I’m wondering if the neighbor who doesn’t pick up their dogs poop and lets it run in my grass (I’m the only one in my actual building with a dog) is to blame for this. Rawr. Grumble.

It was an expensive weekend. But look at that little face!! ♥

Best. Show. EVAR!

OH EM GEE!!!!!

Ok yeah, I know, my 7 facts and my pink layout are late. Sorry. I’ll get to those soon. I was not even home more than 8 hours all weekend. I hardly even slept.

I MUST TELL YOU ALL ABOUT IT!

Saturday was my Shinedown/ROB ZOMBIE/Godsmack show. SUH-WEET! My car made it all the way to Irvine and back, I was pleased.

So me and my mom (… YES MY MOM. She’s way cooler than you, hah) got there at like, 2:30 (I had to give my car plenty of time to be stupid) and hung out in the parking lot with the other early people. I plucked my eyebrows and they look okay now. Then at like, 4:15 we were able to check in and we walked to the pre-party place and had free beer   and food. They had REALLY YUMMY TERIYAKI MEATBALLS! :D And tons of fruit and awesome brownies.

So then Godsmack came over and took pictures with us, and Sully wished me a happy birthday cause my mom told him the show was my birthday gift. Then I got a bag with a wrist band and a teeshirt and an autographed photo of the band and stuff like that.

Aaaand then somebody found out that there were booths with real alchohol and my mom bought me a mini-margarita (by mini, I mean the girl put only a couple drops of everything in with the tequila haha). We hung out with the pre-party people a while longer, then bought rum and cokes and kettle corn and went to look for our seats.

…. WE HAD FRONT ROW SEATS. FRONT ROW!!!  For as many shows as I go to, I have NEVER had front row seats. It was awesome. I was so close my stupid camera phone actually got fairly decent shots. Check the moblog for the concert shots. Also, there’s an audiopost on the.. audioblog (seriously, I told you guys I was addicted to the blogs and stuff).

Shinedown was really good, I wish I had known more of their stuff. They did do Save Me at least, which is the only song I really know. Someone save me if you will, take away, all these pills :music:

Then ROB ZOMBIE came on! He had go-go dancers and real fireballs and a giant alien robot and he ran down my row and I touched him. Yeeeeeep! Most of the songs he did were on the CD I had been listening to on my way to the show. It was awesome.

Then when Godsmack came on I snuck down into the pit. Dude. It was so easy, I literally just stepped over the little red bar. And I fell on my butt cause someone stepped on me, and I got called a brave little lady. I laughed at the guy and was like, “… are you kidding, this is the calmest pit I’ve been into in.. actually, ever.” Yep. But it was my favorite kind where it’s just people running into eachother instead of arms and legs flying all over.

Words cannot express how awesome the show was. I feel sorry for all of you that were not there

AFI = Teh Awesomeness

Hokay.

So last night Sonia and I went to see AFI. We missed Saosin cause we were hungry, got there in time to see Tiger Army. I don’t like them, but whatever. I was impressed with how well they got the crowd moving until I realized a band had been on before them, so then I wasn’t as impressed. If the first band gets that kind of energy, then it’s be something special.

Sooo then we waited for AFI and it was way cool. All the equipment and their clothes is white, and they have these white trees with pink and purple lights and Davey has the exact pink eyeshadow I’ve been looking for and I must know where he got it.

They played the songs I needed them to play except for 1, but that’s ok.

“OMG Katie did you SEE when Davey stepped off the stage and everybody held his feet like he was God?!”
“Sonia, at his own shows, he probably IS God!”

Good times were had, except for the fact that the same huge guy kept stepping on my toe because he’s an idiot and doesn’t know how to keep his feet on the ground. I think my toe is broken or something. AND I saw the guy I totally need to marry, it’s too bad I’ll never see him again. Bands are easy to stalk but random hot guys with curly hair and killer hip bones are not, and I am deeply saddened.

Check the moblog for a couple pictures and a tiny video clip.

That is all.

New Thrice CD in the Works

oooOOOOOoooooo!

Just saw this on the Thrice website (thanks Mel for pointing it out!)

As a lot of you may know, for the past month or so, we’ve been writing and recording our next album. We didn’t want to say anything official until we’d finalized a lot of the details, but now that we’re getting rolling on it, we want you guys to be the first to know what the plans are for this album.

We have started writing and recording a 4 disc concept record, with each disc being themed sonically and thematically to correspond with the four natural elements – earth, air, water and fire. The final record will have somewhere between 20 and 25 songs, divided between the 4 discs.

We are approaching the whole project in a new way for us, both writing and recording. Writing with these elements in mind, we are letting them shape the direction of the songs sonically and thematically. And for the first time, we’re recording the record ourselves as we write it, freeing us up to change things as we go.

We are very excited about the project and are looking forward to sharing more details as the record takes shape. We’re also in the process of setting up a site dedicated to keeping you up to date on our progress, so keep a look out for that in the near future.

I.cannot.WAIT.

Nerdcore!

Hahaha. This one is for Rob.

http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.09/play.html?pg=5

Gangsta is dead. Grime is a bore. There’s a new beat on the street and it’s called Nerdcore. This geeky hip hop subgenre, also dubbed CS rap (that’s computer science, yo!), is finally booting up with the release of Rhyme Torrents, a compilation featuring the work of more than 50 men – and even a few ladies – who bust rhymes (and C++ code). The collection is free online, so none of the artists make bank. Like all true playa MCs, they did it for the street cred. Of course, in the CS rap arena that means a Wikipedia entry, and you can’t get one of those without an official album release. Here are a few of the overclocked hustlas you can find at nerdcorehiphop.org.
