Off to England!

As those of you who follow me on Twitter or are my friend on Facebook know, I am on my way to England for a couple weeks! I’m currently sitting in MSP (the Minneapolis/Saint Paul airport in Minnesota) eating a sandwich and having a beer while I kill lots of time before my flight to Heathrow. I am super excited! I’ll be staying in Oxford for a couple weeks, and hopefully seeing lots of other really cool places. Have I mentioned lately that I have the most awesomest job pretty much ever??

My flight here was pretty uneventful, but I’m not looking forward to the super long flight to get to England. I brought my GameBoy, two knitting projects, my iPod, my laptop, and some sleep deprivation. Hopefully between all those things I will keep myself entertained.

I’ll try to update often with what I’ve been up to in England, but if not, I’ll write a good post when I get back home. I’m so excited, wheeeeeee!

I Missed Portland!

So, I did get to fly back on Christmas morning (and sit in my first class seat!) which rocked. The airport was not as bad as I expected it to be, and my seat on the plane was amazing. They fed me breakfast and gave me champagne and the seat was cushy and there was a pilot sitting next to me who didn’t look at me like I was crazy when I asked him if driving the airplane while it is on the ground is like driving a really big car (the biggest difference, he says, is that you don’t start turning until you are physically past where you are going, because the front steering column is behind you, and that when he drives a car he makes obnoxiously wide turns now).

I got to spend Christmas Day with the adopted family for a bit, then with The House which made me happy I love my friends. I loved spending time with my family and chilling out for a couple days, but I am very happy to be back home.

Trip to the Coast

I went to the Oregon coast this weekend with my Portland Adopted Family! It was a pretty spur of the moment trip, where we decided to go on Wednesday and left Friday. We were planning on camping, but all the campsites were full. We did manage to get a pretty sweet deal on a nice suite right on the beach though! This picture here was taken from my balcony. We went to Newport, and it was a beautiful weekend! There are some photos on my Flickr, but I haven’t gone through all of them yet. Expect more up in the next few days.

Anywho, we got there Friday night just in time to watch the sun set. Then we got all comfy and drank a bottle of wine and explored the area near our room. The puppies were running around like maniacs. There wasn’t really much to do at that point, since things were closed and it was dark and stuff.

Saturday we got an early start and took the puppies down to the ocean and walked along there. Xoie was not at all into the ocean this time but the sand didn’t seem to bother her. After that we ordered room service breakfast (just because we could!) and headed to the Historic Bayfront area and walked the dogs through there. We’d leave one or two people outside with the dogs whenever somebody wanted to go into a shop. Then we went to the Newport Aquarium which was pretty cool, but not as good as the Seattle Aquarium. After that we went and had lunch at the Rogue Brewery, which was the actual excuse for the trip to the coast. I wanted to go to the brewery for my birthday. So, I had some good beer and a decent meal (my pulled pork sandwich would have been amazing if it had 3x more meat and 5x more sauce) and a great dessert and it was nice. Then we headed back to the hotel for an afternoon siesta and trip to the swimming pool. THEN (… yeah we had a really long day hehe) we went back to the Bayfront and went to Mo’s for dinner. OMG. Can I just say… YUM!!!! Seriously. Yum. I don’t even really like clam chowder and this stuff was awesome! It’s world famous and stuff. Anyway, after dinner we walked the dogs around some more and went back to the hotel because we were pretty tuckered out.

Sunday morning saw more beach walking and some frisbee playing, as well as cereal and coffee. Then we got all packed up and drove along the coast stopping at the attractions like the Devil’s Punchbowl (which was not that full when we got there) and the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse (which is haunted, but I didn’t see the ghost). I have pictures from both of those that will be up eventually. Anyway then we went back to Mo’s for a light lunch and headed back to Beaverton.

We did stop at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Lincoln City though. I bought my mom’s birthday gift while I was there! I can’t say what it is because she reads my blog, but I am totally winning the Daughter of the Year award with this one :D

So yeah, it was a great weekend! I got home and did laundry and played with Xoie. She’s suddenly really clingy though, and I’m not sure why. She just sits on my feet and cries when she can’t see me.. it’s really sad. Hopefully she gets back out of this phase soon, cause she’s usually really independent.

That’s all for now!

Birthday Weekend ROCK!

I had the most fabulous birthday weekend, yay!

Friday night I went to my friend Kristen’s house and had dinner with her and Megan, and we had cake and ice cream and it was totally rad. Then I picked Tom up and the 4 of us headed over to Malone’s where we ran into some of Tom’s friends, and one of Megan’s friends, and this dude that I know from work, and also a girl that actually works with me that I called to come meet up with us, and good times were had, up until the part when Tom had to carry me out of the bar. Everybody wanted to buy the birthday girl a drink. Oops.

So I spent most of Saturday recovering from Friday night. Tom made me get up to go eat at like, 1 and that helped quite a bit. I sat around all day watching movies and messing around on the internet and sleeping and cursing my liver. Then I picked Tom up from work and we sat around watching more movies together because my liver threatened to explode if I even thought about stepping foot into a bar. I feel like I did more than that, but I don’t think that I did.

So then Sunday, my actual birthday-day, we went mini-golfing and good times were had there. We are pathetically bad at mini golf haha. So by good times, I mean we spent a lot of time laughing at each other and cursing up a storm :D I randomly got a hole-in-one though, it was rad! Apparently there is no prize for making the ball into the bowl in the lake on the last hole, as we found out after Lee made it. We were hoping for a nacho sombrero, but the only prize is self-satisfaction. “Well damn, if I wanted that I would have used your bathroom for a few minutes!” hahaha. It was a blast. Anyway, then we all headed over to Lee and Kristen’s house and Kristen made us homemade nachos and they were omg so awesome! Oh and somewhere in there I was on Mr Fab’s radio show and it was a spectacular failure haha :D It was fun, even if we have no common ground and my reputation on the internet is now ruined because everybody knows thinks I hang out in a crackhouse. Anyway after that it was off barhopping. We went to Ringo’s to hang out with my piercer buddy and his girlfriend and another friend of theirs. Then we went to Friends to do karaoke, but we forgot it was Sunday and we got there after last call, but the guy was cool and gave us each a drink cause it was my birthday and I got to sign a dollar bill and they stuck it on the wall, but we got no karaoke. So we stopped at someone’s house but didn’t stick around long cause we didn’t like the crowd, so then it was sleep time, woo.

I took today off from work and spent the day with Tom. We were planning on going to drive some super fast go-kart type things but it looked like rain so we went and watched Ratatouille instead, which was adorable for those who have not seen it. When we got out of the movie, yeah, it was raining. We got pretty wet walking back to the car. So then that meant that his buddy that was gonna work on his van didn’t come, which was the whole reason we didn’t go to the coast today like I had originally wanted to do. Meh, the weather probably would have been worse there anyway. Then we got all dressed up and went to dinner at the Portland City Grill which was phenomenal. The view was amazing, the food was amazing, and the company wasn’t so shabby either

And now, I must sleep, for work tomorrow will be a nightmare. I’ve seen what bad condition my office is in after I leave for a few hours, a whole day of not being there is scary. Meep!

What a Weekend!

Oh man I don’t know how I survived this weekend, that’s how much awesomeness I crammed into it! Actually, I had a really good week. The whole week was rad. There was lots of good food involved, good company, and fun and exciting events.

Like, drunken pool, drunken karaoke (… is there even such a thing as sober karaoke?!), a trip to the zoo, being an extra in a punk movie, and more good food. Yay! And then there was Mike being pwned by an ice cream truck, not once, but THREE TIMES! Bwahahahhaa. It was hilarious. The ice cream truck beat him off the line all three times. I will never let him live that down. And I got to drive a car that actually accelerates, I can’t wait until my truck is fixed. And then I ended it with Pirates of the Caribbean. I suppose I really should sleep since I have to be at work in 6 hours but meh.

I figured a lot out and then turned everything upside down again. Why do I thrive on chaos so? Oh yeah, because it makes life interesting. YAY!! :D
