As if the layout isn’t pink enough to begin with.. in October it will be completely pink. Why?

Well, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I will be participating in Pink for October, so I’ll be pinkifying the site on October 1st.

And with a months notice, you should do it too smile

Nerdcore!

Aug 30 2006, 08:15 AM

Hahaha. This one is for Rob.

http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.09/play.html?pg=5

Gangsta is dead. Grime is a bore. There’s a new beat on the street and it’s called Nerdcore. This geeky hip hop subgenre, also dubbed CS rap (that’s computer science, yo!), is finally booting up with the release of Rhyme Torrents, a compilation featuring the work of more than 50 men – and even a few ladies – who bust rhymes (and C++ code). The collection is free online, so none of the artists make bank. Like all true playa MCs, they did it for the street cred. Of course, in the CS rap arena that means a Wikipedia entry, and you can’t get one of those without an official album release. Here are a few of the overclocked hustlas you can find at nerdcorehiphop.org.

Aug 28 2006, 10:39 AM

Ack. So I forgot to pay my registration last month for my car. Got a letter today.

$40 registration fee
$8 liscence fee
$35 late fee.

Just found out the smog test that I have to have done is gonna be fifty some odd dollars. GAH.

I swear if the car doesn’t pass I’m getting rid of it.

1st Down!

Aug 26 2006, 12:19 PM

We went and played football today. Let the records show that I, Katie.. SUCK at football. I can’t run, I can barely catch, I definetly can’t throw.. though to my credit, I can cover pretty well (as long as they don’t get a running start hah)

No wait. I rock!

I ran a whole 12 yards with the ball, woot!! (then the fast guy came out of nowhere and next thing I know I’m flat on the floor). Then I missed the next ball by half an inch and jammed my finger. It still hurts.

Oh and I had a charlie horse at 6 in the morning. I had to bite my pillow to keep from screaming. So now my leg is crazy sore, rawr :(

That is all. I must now go shower and visit my Grandma. She’s in the hospital, so if you guys could keep her in your thoughts and/or prayers, it’d mean a lot to me smile

Friday’s Feast - 108 - Week 3

Aug 25 2006, 08:40 AM

Join me in Friday’s Feast!

Appetizer: If you could have a free subscription to any magazine, which one would you like to have?
Hmmm. Would you believe I’m so out of touch with “The Real World Out There” that I don’t even know any magazines? The only ones I know, I don’t like. I think a good photography or tech magazine would be nice.

Soup: Describe your living room (furnishings, colors, etc.).
My living room is under construction. It’s a huge mess. I have a white-ish couch, a bookcase full of doll parts, a TV sitting on a big plastic box, Jeff’s Love Sac, a sewing table, and Vinz has his playpen set up out there.

Salad: What does the shape of a circle make you think of?
Uhhhm. Nothing really. I see a circle and think “Oh, a circle”.

Main Course: Name 3 things in your life that you consider to be absolute necessities.
My computer - I’d have like, no friends without the internet haha.
My friends and family - fairly self explanitory.
Pepsi - I couldn’t function without it.

Dessert: What was the last really funny movie you watched?
Uuuuuhhhhhhhmmm… I don’t remember. I’ve been watching House MD and dramas on Netflix lately, haven’t seen any funny ones in a while.

I swear, if in 10 years I turn into a real artist, I’ll be her.

I Suck at Pool

Aug 20 2006, 11:32 AM

Last night was fun. Me and Jeff went and had dinner at Chadaka which is a Thai place I found online and it was yummy. We had coconut soup with chicken, and I had Drunken Noodles w/ beef and Jeff had Crab Noodles and mmmm it was good food. And I really wanted either a pomegranite martini or a mango one,  but then I decided I didn’t want to pay $9 for it so I had Coke instead.

Anyway after dinner we went to play pool. I suck at pool. Srsly. I won the game of 8 ball on a technicality (basically the only way I win haha, Jeff scratched while he was aiming for the 8). Then I won the first game of 9 ball fair and square, then proceeded to lose the next two, because I kept missing the really painfully EASY shots. Cest la vie. At least I managed to play 4 games. Usually I get frustrated after 2. Pool takes too much concentration.

Then we watched House, and I read a book, and tried to sleep. But I couldn’t. I’m still sick, it came back out of nowhere because I was feeling fine all day yesterday until about 1 in the morning. Now I’m really sleepy and my chest hurts. Blargh.

You know. I’m really not much better at bowling either.

Aug 20 2006, 10:00 AM

10: I tend to fall victim to routine at restaraunts. The majority of the time, I will order the same thing, just because I *know* I like it. I’m picky enough about what I eat to know that if I order something new, there’s a good chance I won’t like it. Which is why I enjoy going with lots of people.. then I can take a bite of their food, with no risk to me not eating if I don’t like it.

Participate in Friday’s Feast!

Appetizer: What color is your car?
It’s supposed to be white with a tiny blue stripe.. right now it’s kind of grey.

Soup: If you could wake up tomorrow with full training in another occupation and a job in that field, what would it be?
I’d kind of like to work for the CIA. I don’t know what specifically though. Something computer-y.

Salad: How many times in your life have you had the flu (or something similar)?
Way too many. I’m chronically ill.

Main Course: What is something that has happened to you this week that you didn’t expect?
I got to stay home yesterday. Though it wasn’t that exciting because I was crazy sick and slept all day, except for when I was awake sweating because my fever was killing me. And Jeff made me drink water. I hate water. Today I don’t really feel better, but I am better medicated I suppose.

Dessert: How old were you when you had your first kiss?
15. Out in the rain. It was quite lovely actually.  kiss

Mmm Tonight Rocks!

Aug 15 2006, 07:38 PM

Me ‘n Jeff went to the grocery store and I got the new Honey Bunches of Oats, with cinammon! I look forward to that for breakfast.

We also got steak, and steak sauce, and green beans, and garlic bread and we are making dinner, and blueberry-loaf (they were supposed to be muffins but I seem to not have a muffin pan) for dessert. Then we shall go bowling, then watch House MD.

There is no terror-puppy around tonight, he is at the vet recovering from being nuetered. I must call the office tomorrow for they have charged us $30 more than I was quoted when I called.

My phone is broken again and my throat still hurts.

Phone Woes and Sore Throat

Aug 15 2006, 09:34 AM

Saturday I broke my cellphone. The display went all wonky on it. So yesterday I went to the dealer and he arranged for T-Mobile to send me a new phone under warranty. So all I have to do is send this one back. Well, of course, today the phone is working PERFECTLY. Both displays are just fine. Since Saturday the inner one would blink on and off and the outer one was either inverted (upside down and backwards) or black. Today I see my clock, I see my image, the logos are the right way.. so they’re gonna be like, “uh there’s nothing wrong with this phone besides the teethmarks on it”. Blah. I hear they can charge the cost of the phone if they think you’re trying to cheat the warranty :| DIE PHONE, PLEASE!!!

Oh yeah, lets test the blockquote CSS. La la la!

In other news I think my bathroom cleaner tried to kill me. I bought this tile spray stuff and omg. It felt like sandpaper in my lungs just being in the bathroom. I had to leave for an hour and couldn’t breathe right half of that time. This morning, my throat is KILLING me. I can’t swallow well and the soft squishy sinus-thing on the top of my mouth is crazy swollen. I’m thoroughly miserable and I want to go back home and sleep.

Chicken and Fried Noodles for Cheap!

Aug 14 2006, 08:34 PM

This is something Jeff came up with the other day, and it was extremely yummy and extremely inexpensive.

I don’t know exactly what he did so I’ll just explain it as best I can, and you can figure it out :D

First, he took some chicken and cooked it with some oil. Then he took a package of chicken flavored Top Ramen and cooked the noodles for about a minute (the water was already boiling) just to let it absorb some water. Then he stir-fried (so he described it to me) the noodles with a little more oil with the chicken and mixed in about half the package of ramen flavoring.

And it was quite tasty. The texture of the noodles was really awesome because they were kind of hard without being like.. crispy. If that makes sense. So you guys will have to try it and let me know how it comes out :D
