Define: Spidgey

Feb 29 2008, 03:19 PM

Hello to Katie’s Readers! I am Scott, otherwise known on the internet as Spidgey. I live over at Eats Chalk.

So! Something that has driven Katie insane since I first met her on the internet is…. “What the hell does spidgey mean?! Do I even want to know??” I gave her a hint but she still hasn’t figured it out. I’m sure it’s because she hasn’t tried. Whatever.

So I thought it’d be fun to post about it on her blog, just to tease her. In fact, I think I’ll even make a contest out of it. I have to do it here instead of my blog because nobody reads my site except Katie and Jules, and what’s the fun of that?

I don’t really have much to offer besides a dedicated post on my blog (that again, nobody reads but who cares)... but! Whoever wins my contest has the satisfaction of knowing that they know what the meaning behind my screenname is and Katie doesn’t! That’s reward in and of itself, no? Bwahaha.

So the contest is: whoever gets the closest to explaining my username wins. Ready, go!

Gas Prices Are Murder

Feb 29 2008, 12:35 PM

So, I just went to the gas station to put gas in my truck. Gas is $3.14 cents today. I swear it was just $2.85 the other day, what gives?? Gas prices are murder. Back when I first started driving I think gas was still like, a buck fifty. This blows hardcore. Apparently gas is still relatively cheap here in Arizona. How much is the gas everywhere else?

(PS this is Jules invading Katie’s blog for FFAF, whee!)

Why So Hidden?

Feb 29 2008, 11:23 AM

With the proliferation of the internet, you would think that more and more people would be communicating. I remember a time when the internet was new and fresh, and people were talking to each other, building websites, and using that as a form of communication unlike anything ever was done before. However, it seems that today no one wants to talk to each other, and instead we are stuck in circles with the same group of friends in the same towns, cities, and internet world, without anything interesting to say.

Case in point: AIM.

My aim account has 56 screen names, and often times half of the names are online and doing stuff. However, if I don’t initiate contact days, weeks, months, and for some names, years go by without as much as a hello. However, back in high school, I was the bone-afide hustler, going on makeoutclub.com and scoping aim names, talking to the ladies, and genuinely meeting more people than I did in real life. (Growing up in los angeles didn’t make it easy to meet people…everyone is so afraid of each other)

But then I grew up.

I never got out of the internet job world, I stay online for at least 18 hours a day with my aim running, hoping that someone somewhere will see my name lit up and would say hello, engage me in a conversation about anything, anything at all!

Instead, people pass by each other on the information super highway, just like they passed me by in high school, and just like they passed me by in college. Now I sit in a cubicle in the heart of seattle, programming websites for clients that don’t even care to know my name, and all I have to communicate with the outside world is my aim name…and a computer.

No one cares though…

we don’t care about each other, and we don’t have time for anymore aim friends.

But wait, there’s more!

I have 4,000 myspace friends…when’s the last time I heard from any of them?

I recently moved to Seattle, Wa. I have no friends here.

Every attempt at saying hello has been greeted with a face of disgust, or fear that I’m going to steal from them.

They talk about tolerance, but I find that the world doesn’t tolerate a Mexican saying hello to them, unless we are serving their meals, cleaning their tables, or sitting a counter…the clerks life…I miss it.

I hate the way the internet has made people more introverted than ever. It wasn’t suppose to be that way….

So I sit here, on hour 38 of my 40 hour a week job….wishing that someone would recognize that I’m still alive…barely hanging on.

Darn…I just spilled my drink.

Kimchi in space

Feb 29 2008, 01:53 AM

Oh HAI! Yoshi here, from hello! yoshi. I’ve come to participate in Free for all Friday

Ok, so have you heard of this? Kimchi in Space. It apparently took them a while to formulate a type of kimchi that wouldn’t be harmful. I mean first of all the smell. Wow, they have to get rid of that. Then aside from that because there’s bacteria in Kimchi (i mean it’s fermented right?), they have to be sure that it won’t be harmed or mutated by the cosmic rays. Whoa, sounds like something out of science fiction or Fantastic Four, right? But it’s apparently true.

I wonder if they’ll ever market the “space kimchi” for general use. I’d like to try a taste.

Come on over to my site, I’m also participating in the FFAF!
