Kat Scratch Fever

I Missed Portland!

Dec 27 2008, 08:44 PM

So, I did get to fly back on Christmas morning (and sit in my first class seat!) which rocked. The airport was not as bad as I expected it to be, and my seat on the plane was amazing. They fed me breakfast and gave me champagne and the seat was cushy and there was a pilot sitting next to me who didn’t look at me like I was crazy when I asked him if driving the airplane while it is on the ground is like driving a really big car (the biggest difference, he says, is that you don’t start turning until you are physically past where you are going, because the front steering column is behind you, and that when he drives a car he makes obnoxiously wide turns now).

I got to spend Christmas Day with the adopted family for a bit, then with The House which made me happy smile I love my friends. I loved spending time with my family and chilling out for a couple days, but I am very happy to be back home.

Trip to the Coast

Jul 14 2008, 01:10 PM

Sunset Lighthouse HDR I went to the Oregon coast this weekend with my Portland Adopted Family! It was a pretty spur of the moment trip, where we decided to go on Wednesday and left Friday. We were planning on camping, but all the campsites were full. We did manage to get a pretty sweet deal on a nice suite right on the beach though! This picture here was taken from my balcony. We went to Newport, and it was a beautiful weekend! There are some photos on my Flickr, but I haven’t gone through all of them yet. Expect more up in the next few days.

Anywho, we got there Friday night just in time to watch the sun set. Then we got all comfy and drank a bottle of wine and explored the area near our room. The puppies were running around like maniacs. There wasn’t really much to do at that point, since things were closed and it was dark and stuff.

Saturday we got an early start and took the puppies down to the ocean and walked along there. Xoie was not at all into the ocean this time but the sand didn’t seem to bother her. After that we ordered room service breakfast (just because we could!) and headed to the Historic Bayfront area and walked the dogs through there. We’d leave one or two people outside with the dogs whenever somebody wanted to go into a shop. Then we went to the Newport Aquarium which was pretty cool, but not as good as the Seattle Aquarium. After that we went and had lunch at the Rogue Brewery, which was the actual excuse for the trip to the coast. I wanted to go to the brewery for my birthday. So, I had some good beer and a decent meal (my pulled pork sandwich would have been amazing if it had 3x more meat and 5x more sauce) and a great dessert and it was nice. Then we headed back to the hotel for an afternoon siesta and trip to the swimming pool. THEN (... yeah we had a really long day hehe) we went back to the Bayfront and went to Mo’s for dinner. OMG. Can I just say… YUM!!!! Seriously. Yum. I don’t even really like clam chowder and this stuff was awesome! It’s world famous and stuff. Anyway, after dinner we walked the dogs around some more and went back to the hotel because we were pretty tuckered out.

Sunday morning saw more beach walking and some frisbee playing, as well as cereal and coffee. Then we got all packed up and drove along the coast stopping at the attractions like the Devil’s Punchbowl (which was not that full when we got there) and the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse (which is haunted, but I didn’t see the ghost). I have pictures from both of those that will be up eventually. Anyway then we went back to Mo’s for a light lunch and headed back to Beaverton.

We did stop at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Lincoln City though. I bought my mom’s birthday gift while I was there! I can’t say what it is because she reads my blog, but I am totally winning the Daughter of the Year award with this one grin

So yeah, it was a great weekend! I got home and did laundry and played with Xoie. She’s suddenly really clingy though, and I’m not sure why. She just sits on my feet and cries when she can’t see me.. it’s really sad. Hopefully she gets back out of this phase soon, cause she’s usually really independant.

That’s all for now!

Birthday Weekend ROCK!

Jul 24 2007, 12:11 AM

I had the most fabulous birthday weekend, yay! smile

Friday night I went to my friend Kristen’s house and had dinner with her and Megan, and we had cake and ice cream and it was totally rad. Then I picked Tom up and the 4 of us headed over to Malone’s where we ran into some of Tom’s friends, and one of Megan’s friends, and this dude that I know from work, and also a girl that actually works with me that I called to come meet up with us, and good times were had, up until the part when Tom had to carry me out of the bar. Everybody wanted to buy the birthday girl a drink. Oops.

So I spent most of Saturday recovering from Friday night. Tom made me get up to go eat at like, 1 and that helped quite a bit. I sat around all day watching movies and messing around on the internet and sleeping and cursing my liver. Then I picked Tom up from work and we sat around watching more movies together because my liver threatened to explode if I even thought about stepping foot into a bar. I feel like I did more than that, but I don’t think that I did.

So then Sunday, my actual birthday-day, we went mini-golfing and good times were had there. We are pathetically bad at mini golf haha. So by good times, I mean we spent a lot of time laughing at each other and cursing up a storm grin I randomly got a hole-in-one though, it was rad! Apparently there is no prize for making the ball into the bowl in the lake on the last hole, as we found out after Lee made it. We were hoping for a nacho sombrero, but the only prize is self-satisfaction. “Well damn, if I wanted that I would have used your bathroom for a few minutes!” hahaha. It was a blast. Anyway, then we all headed over to Lee and Kristen’s house and Kristen made us homemade nachos and they were omg so awesome! Oh and somewhere in there I was on Mr Fab’s radio show and it was a spectacular failure haha grin It was fun, even if we have no common ground and my reputation on the internet is now ruined because everybody knows thinks I hang out in a crackhouse. Anyway after that it was off barhopping. We went to Ringo’s to hang out with my piercer buddy and his girlfriend and another friend of theirs. Then we went to Friends to do karaoke, but we forgot it was Sunday and we got there after last call, but the guy was cool and gave us each a drink cause it was my birthday and I got to sign a dollar bill and they stuck it on the wall, but we got no karaoke. So we stopped at someone’s house but didn’t stick around long cause we didn’t like the crowd, so then it was sleep time, woo.

I took today off from work and spent the day with Tom. We were planning on going to drive some super fast go-kart type things but it looked like rain so we went and watched Ratatouille instead, which was adorable for those who have not seen it. When we got out of the movie, yeah, it was raining. We got pretty wet walking back to the car. So then that meant that his buddy that was gonna work on his van didn’t come, which was the whole reason we didn’t go to the coast today like I had originally wanted to do. Meh, the weather probably would have been worse there anyway. Then we got all dressed up and went to dinner at the Portland City Grill which was phenomenal. The view was amazing, the food was amazing, and the company wasn’t so shabby either wink

And now, I must sleep, for work tomorrow will be a nightmare. I’ve seen what bad condition my office is in after I leave for a few hours, a whole day of not being there is scary. Meep!

What a Weekend!

May 29 2007, 04:11 AM

Oh man I don’t know how I survived this weekend, that’s how much awesomeness I crammed into it! Actually, I had a really good week. The whole week was rad. There was lots of good food involved, good company, and fun and exciting events.

Like, drunken pool, drunken karaoke (... is there even such a thing as sober karaoke?!), a trip to the zoo, being an extra in a punk movie, and more good food. Yay! And then there was Mike being pwned by an ice cream truck, not once, but THREE TIMES! Bwahahahhaa. It was hilarious. The ice cream truck beat him off the line all three times. I will never let him live that down. And I got to drive a car that actually accelerates, I can’t wait until my truck is fixed. And then I ended it with Pirates of the Caribbean. I suppose I really should sleep since I have to be at work in 6 hours but meh.

I figured a lot out and then turned everything upside down again. Why do I thrive on chaos so?
Oh yeah, because it makes life interesting. YAY!! grin

New Body Mod

May 19 2007, 08:19 PM

I got a new piercing today, as you know if you saw my newest mobile photo. I’d been wanting to get my tragus pierced for over a year and a half, and I finally got around to it.

So, it didn’t feel like what I expected. It was a good 5 minutes of “Ow. Ow. Ow!” but not as bad as I had thought. I also hadn’t realized how long it takes to do the piercing. It was pretty intensive. It stopped hurting really fast though. When I got my cartiladge pierced, it hurt for a good 2 hours of throbbing afterwards. This is just red and swollen.

It looks pretty sweet though. So now I just need 2 more ear piecings and another tattoo and I think I’ll be done.

I’m in Seattle right now. Post about my trip when I get home tomorrow night.

This Post Brought to You by One Hour of Sleep, Tequila, and also Spaghetti

Feb 06 2007, 10:38 AM

The nice thing aboot being 21 is that I can get away with this still. Good times were had by all!!  thumbs up

After work I went home and took Vinz for a jog, and spoke to the car people next door. They are going to look at Betty and see if they want to buy her, which would be awesome. The were not thrilled at the fact that it is a 93 tempo (those apparently have bad engines) but maybe the sad look and “I’m moving 1000 miles away, even a few hundred bucks would help” line will convince them to take it. Anyway then I did a load of laundry and took a shower. That was the boring part of the night.

So I hopped in the truck and zoomed down the 101 and the 405 because at 8 pm there is no traffic. I promised Kevan I would make him spaghetti so I went over there and made spaghetti! Called Jeremy when I got off the freeway to come down and go to the store with me, but I actually found a parking spot pretty much right in front of the apartment instead of half a mile away. It was amazing! So I took it and said “Never mind we’re going in Kev’s car because I am NOT giving up this spot!!”

Go inside, grab the boys, I got to drive Kevan’s car cause he had too much wine. Best story ever! So we’re driving along and I look at the speedometer and it says I’m going 80 and I’m like, “NO WAY!!!! WTF?!?! KEV! How often do you get pulled over for speeding in this thing, cause it doesn’t feel like I’m going all that fast!!” And he looks over and goes “... uh, Katie.. that’s kilometers per hour.” “................ damn Canadians!” bwahaha. So I was going like, 40mph. It didn’t dawn on me that the Canadian guy would have a car from Canada, and that it’s speedometer would have kilometers in big numbers. I felt like an idiot, it was funny.

Anyway we went to the store and got the essentials: spaghetti making materials and booze. Yay! I made the spaghetti and it was good and now Kev and Jeremy will love me forever cause I fed them something that didn’t come out of the freezer. Go me! Played drunken Wii and stuff, and it was awesome.

I got home at like, 6 in the morning. Went to sleep. Got up at 7:20 and came to work. I am quite useless today. YAY FUN!!! smile

Best. Show. EVAR!

Oct 02 2006, 11:26 AM

OH EM GEE!!!!!

Ok yeah, I know, my 7 facts and my pink layout are late. Sorry. I’ll get to those soon. I was not even home more than 8 hours all weekend. I hardly even slept.

I MUST TELL YOU ALL ABOUT IT!

Saturday was my Shinedown/ROB ZOMBIE/Godsmack show. SUH-WEET! My car made it all the way to Irvine and back, I was pleased.

So me and my mom (... YES MY MOM. She’s way cooler than you, hah) got there at like, 2:30 (I had to give my car plenty of time to be stupid) and hung out in the parking lot with the other early people. I plucked my eyebrows and they look okay now. Then at like, 4:15 we were able to check in and we walked to the pre-party place and had free beer cheers  and food. They had REALLY YUMMY TERIYAKI MEATBALLS! grin And tons of fruit and awesome brownies.

So then Godsmack came over and took pictures with us, and Sully wished me a happy birthday cause my mom told him the show was my birthday gift. Then I got a bag with a wrist band and a teeshirt and an autographed photo of the band and stuff like that.

Aaaand then somebody found out that there were booths with real alchohol and my mom bought me a mini-margarita (by mini, I mean the girl put only a couple drops of everything in with the tequila haha). We hung out with the pre-party people a while longer, then bought rum and cokes and kettle corn and went to look for our seats.

.... WE HAD FRONT ROW SEATS. FRONT ROW!!!  For as many shows as I go to, I have NEVER had front row seats. It was awesome. I was so close my stupid camera phone actually got fairly decent shots. Check the moblog for the concert shots. Also, there’s an audiopost on the.. audioblog (seriously, I told you guys I was addicted to the blogs and stuff).

Shinedown was really good, I wish I had known more of their stuff. They did do Save Me at least, which is the only song I really know. Someone save me if you will, take away, all these pills music

Then ROB ZOMBIE came on! He had go-go dancers and real fireballs and a giant alien robot and he ran down my row and I touched him. Yeeeeeep! Most of the songs he did were on the CD I had been listening to on my way to the show. It was awesome.

Then when Godsmack came on I snuck down into the pit. Dude. It was so easy, I literally just stepped over the little red bar. And I fell on my butt cause someone stepped on me, and I got called a brave little lady. I laughed at the guy and was like, “... are you kidding, this is the calmest pit I’ve been into in.. actually, ever.” Yep. But it was my favorite kind where it’s just people running into eachother instead of arms and legs flying all over.

Words cannot express how awesome the show was. I feel sorry for all of you that were not there tongue

Mmm Tonight Rocks!

Aug 15 2006, 09:38 PM

Me ‘n Jeff went to the grocery store and I got the new Honey Bunches of Oats, with cinammon! I look forward to that for breakfast.

We also got steak, and steak sauce, and green beans, and garlic bread and we are making dinner, and blueberry-loaf (they were supposed to be muffins but I seem to not have a muffin pan) for dessert. Then we shall go bowling, then watch House MD.

There is no terror-puppy around tonight, he is at the vet recovering from being nuetered. I must call the office tomorrow for they have charged us $30 more than I was quoted when I called.

My phone is broken again and my throat still hurts.
